    Who stocks 506.01

I'm coming to sydney in a couple of weeks and need a stock of 506.01.

Hopefully cheaper than dealers @ $154/5l

GLLubricants has Mobil1 5w-30 ESP for $13.50/L. It's 504/507 approved but according to exxonmobil it "is of 506.01 quality level".

    5W-30 Synthetic Oil | Mobil 1â„¢ ESP Formula 5W-30

506.01 has higher levels of unobtanium for the cams or fuel pump follower doesn't it?

I'm assuming 507.00 isn't suitable for your application as 507.00 superceded 506.01 for many of the diesel engines?

Here's a block diagram that implies 507.00 is OK but I know there's an exeption.

/thinks.... mandatory in the v10 diesel with dpf?

    Brad,
Yeah mine (R5 Touareg) and a couple of others is the exception. 'Same' quality level doesn't quite cut it.
I had one place say that we 'recommend' this oil, 507, but not the same.
Last lot of oil I got was cheap from a dealer because it was out of date.
    Still looking.
The bit below says not suitable for my model.

From exxon mobilAccording to ExxonMobil, Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W-30 is of the following quality level:
    API CF
    Volkswagen (Gasoline) 502 00 / 503 00 / 503 01
    Volkswagen (Diesel) 505 00 / 505 01 / 506 00 / 506 01
All VW engines with the exception of Unit-Injector / Pump-Duse TDI without LongLife Service and without DPF between 1999-2003 and R5/V10-TDi before model year 2006

The dealer is your only option at this point.

Liqui-Moly stockists can get it in as well, but I'm pretty sure it's dearer than the Castrol that the dealers sell.

What about from the UK or would postage bust that?

I've never been lucky with postage from the UK. Weight would kill it.
Found some for $120/5l but want some extra.

As well as phoning your nearest or most convenient Burson Auto Parts store (distributor of Fuchs lubricants), you can check out these stores:

CDA Eastland - Fuchs Titan Supersyn Ll Plus 0W30 4Lt Pack (should read "Fuchs Titan SuperSyn LongLife Plus 0W-30").

    Gas Motorsport - Motul Specific 503-506 0W-30 5ltr

Regarding the Motul product being sold at Gas Motorsport, do ensure you are getting the right product:

"Motul Specific 503.00-506.00 0W-30" is a lubricant approved to VW oil standard 503.00/506.00 (very old and rare now)

    "Motul Specific 506 01 506 00 503 00 0W-30" is a lubricant approved to VW oil standard 503.00/506.00/506.01

After all this time, I'm highly doubtful that many 503.00/506.00 oils still exist on the market, so it may be just a typo on Gas Motorsport's website.
