I wonder if that is an old stock. The one I bought is in a silver container and retails around $130, as it's now imported as a VW part.

It all changes as Castrol make the SLX Pro range as themselves. But they do make oil to be badged as for VW.

Also, disregard my post from last night haha. I was thinking of Edge Sport 5w-30. Which I ordered for $162/20L.

    I can get Enviro+ in the 5L for around 60, 20L for around 250.

If anyone wants any, let me know.

I personally prefer oil that is made overseas. I'm not sure where is the above pictured Castrol oil made; my guess is that it is made locally.
Who ever changed that dealers have to buy oil from VW in Geramany, must have had a good reason for it.

Yes they did have a good reason. Instead of selling it for about $80, they now sell it for $130.

Just purchased Liqui Moly TOP TEC 4200 | 5W-30 from Autobarn, $80 for 5L.

It says it's VW 504.00 / 507 and made in Germany.

I hope it's good, will change the oil soon in the next 2 weeks.

There is not much of the differnce between VW504.00/507.00 approved oil, if any? At least to the engine.

    Hey guys,

I'm a noob to the VW scene and had a good read about all these Vw507 and Vw 504 oils. I had a look at the VW R32 oil guide provided with the car and it stated 504/502 and that confused the crap out of me..

Would i be able to run Liqui Moly TOP TEC 4200 | 5W-30 in my dec 06 mk5 r32? The previous owner 'apparently' changed the oil 2000km before I purchased it, but there is no supporting documentation and quite frankly I'm not comfortable with what kind of stuff he has put in there...Prior to that, he did it every 5,000km (which is stamped). I've read that changing oil so frequently is not required, but as mentioned I like to be comfortable that my car is running sweet! It doesn't have a hard life... I drive it on the weekends and it's done 800km since I bought it a month ago..hmm

Will introduce myself in the intro's thread.

    Thanks,

    Dan

LM TOPTEC 4200 is right oil for your car. The VW504.00 spec superseeds all other oils and can be use in all current VAG cars. I wouldn't trust the previous owner and would change the oil regardless. I change oil in all our cars every 6 months or 7500km whichever comes first. It doesn't send me broke and I know that if I would want to keep my car for loooong time I have a better chance than with the oil changes every 12months.
