Just in case that someone is to far from VW dealer and need oil in emergency for TDi engine there is Shell Helix Ultra Extra 5W-30 available from Nissan Dealers.
However, I think it costs more than Castrol LL3 Professional Power flow from VW dealer and it says “suitable for” VW 504.00, 507.00 not approved by VW!
To use it as oil for complete oil change one should find out first if it were approved by VW otherwise warranty could be voided.

My manual says 504.00, 503.00 for longlife service or 504.00, 502.00 without long life service.
What is long life service? And if i use, say something like Castrol Edge Sport 5-30W or Shell Helix Ultra Extra 5-30W which i think are 504.00, 507.00 then will this be okay regarding warranty?
I'm not even sure what the 504.00, 503.00, 502.00 etc stand for!![]()
Choony,
from your profile I see that your car is a GTI, so I suggest that you use VW504.00 oil for best protection. That's the oil dealers would be using. Shell Helix Ultra Extra 5W30 is right oil for your car as long as it has on the label VW504.00 approved. I wouldn't use Castrol Edge.
