added to my address book, will HAVE to give them a closer look, specially if they have that filter at HALF the price McGrath charge. Nice.

during the summer months i use a 20w 50, as in australia, the tempriture is much higher than in germany where they decided on what oil to use.

I did compition motocross for a while, and getting the wieght of the oil right for the conditions made a huge differance to the life of the motors.
The hotter it was, the heaver oil we used. The bikes where air cooled, so tempriture was important.

Surely VW would not be as short sighted as to recommend an oil used based soley on the ambient temperature in the fatherland??

Nonetheless, I want to put in 10w-50 come my next change for the stinking perth summer and the track work on the horizon

Two different engines, air cooled need heavier oil, i use castrol 20w 50 in my oval, but way to heavy for a VR6 motor. 10w40/ 15w40 is recommended.

If you look at oils solely on the viscositys in regards to tempriture, a 10w 40 or a 15w 40 arn't nearly heavy enough, they turn to water in the heat. i basically don't trust them to look after my motor on a 35 degree day when the engine oil temp is 115 degrees

So by that token, 10w-30 in the summer, 15w-40 in winter???
