Thanks Guys, I guess I can rest at ease...
did a trip to tassie a few years ago with our forester - runs on 98. even small towns between strahan and hobart had 95 available. so i used 95 where i had to then used 98 when it was available. the car ran fine.
would probably be pretty rare these days to not find at least 95 at a servo.
Thanks Guys, I guess I can rest at ease...

I put the shell stuff in my yamaha bike and all the hoses went soft and started leeking so i drained the the tank and had mower fuel for the next 2 years and the hoses all went back to normal in an hour
Am I the only person that likes shell lol?

i think i saw a shell station that sells 100 ron fuel which was a mix with ethanol??? ne1 else know about it?
i only have 2 stations near me a new big bp and a small local united. i read in the newspaper that the united put diesel in the premium tanks by accident.. ive never gone back.. bp ultimate all the way..
they used to sell it everywhere, it failed pretty badly, it was formulated with 5% ethanol... Well, around my area it did, it was like an 21c per liter premium when 98 was 8-10c more I hardly ever saw people buying it, only a few boy racers and drug dealers in porshces and benzes.
Worked well though I must say, my mate ran his tuned GTi on it a few times, better pull before the turbo spooled up below 3000. It'd be used to best effect if you had a tuned car with a few fuel settings, some of the MK5 boys have that.
But yeah Mr loon said they still sell it in Bonnyrigg in Sydney's west. either that or just mix a few litres of ethanol in with each tank to boost the octane rating!!!

Nope, I use it all the time. I think my one eyed Ferrari supporterismness causes me to use it. Although looking at the other posts here I wouldn't mind trying BP Ultimate.
They still sell it here at my local Shell. They have it instead of the ethanol blended fuel. There's quite a few people with quite a bit of money around the place so I guess they must be using it. Too expensive for me though.

Well yeah fair enough, where I live has the lowest life expectancy in Sydney as well as one of the highest unemployment rates (16%) as well as an average income of $38,750 per year.
Its not wonder it didn't do to well, although that doesn't mean everyone in my suburb is in that degree of a situation, or it is like that where I live of course.
I think 98 is good enough for me and my golf as well

hmnn just put some BP ultimate in, pity its just diluted the shell 98. I'll run the tank to red and then refill the bugger with a full tank. I'll keep you updated if theres any difference.
Also it costs the same as shell 98, only on the basis that shell has a higher average price: i.e 140.00 vs 133.39, ended up being 149.50. Pretty much the same, but we'll see.
