The higher the power density the more power per litre of fuel and if you dont leadfoot it then the more mileage per tank
I know this because I have seen it tested in the Mon/Ron engine also I have a high compression V8 with a lot of advance and this engine really lets you know what fuel its drinking.
I buy mobil as a last choice as there 98 is only just 98 octane where as the shell 98 is always more than 98 sometimes its basially 99 octane fuel plus the shell has the higher power density.
I never ever buy woolies fuel
The big petrol stations all ways have there own fuel ie a big shell has shell fuel. It can be a different thing in smaller stations. I bought some 95 octane from a small BP the other day and the car pinged its head off. so i was ripped off as it wasnt 95 at all.
One difference between the fuels is the additives they put in to clean deposits from the injectors. Each additive cleans certain things only so switching fuels after using only one brand for a long time can account for the sudden surge in performance as the new fuels different cleaning additives will clean out what the other hasnt.
I have been using the 98 octane ethanol fuel as it has a really good octane rating and its cheap . Its only draw back is it hasnt got the same power density because ethanol has a low power density than the hydrocarbons used in petrol. when I am plodding to work i allways use the ethanol blend but if Im going for a zoom or towing then in goes the V power.
having said all of the above if you have a low compression engine then it doesnt really natter what you put in it
