Thats VW service for you! - what sort of oil did they give you? Castrol Edge 0W40?
Having just clocked up a few thousand k's, and with the 1st service not due until 15000km, i thought i would investigate an interim oil change....
Quote from service dept of a dealer for oil change incl filter - $380
Price of oil and filter from same dealer - $88.60
Needless to say, i will be pulling the old ramps down from the shed roof, and doing it myself!!

No, i didnt do anything that radical
I was wondering about that - the manual that came with my car has a general insert relating to a bunch of engine types, but does NOT include the 3.2L V6. Armed with this concerning lack of information (!) i rang VW assist who advised that the right oil for an 08 R32 (after i confirmed it was a petrol, not diesel engine (!)) was 10W40.
In the end, I have asked spare parts at the dealer i bought the car from to provide me with "the right oil for my 08 R32". I'm keen to put in the oil that VW recommend so I dont create any warranty complications, should there be a problem.
well here the VW Workshops use Castrol TXT which is basically just 10w40 Castrol Edge but in a commercial quantity..
I have picked up the oil, its Castrol SLX Pofessional Power Flow 5W30. Also on the bottle is VW Longlife III.
Confusion reigns supreme!!
Just asked Volkspower, they confirmed this oils will be fine, put my mind at rest...Thanks
