Yes I saw that too. See there is always something on sale.
I might get another bottle but do I really need 15litres of oil in the garage?

I went down this morning & bought a couple, now I have almost 15 litres.
I can see why people have trouble with buying the right oil. Castrol have two products called Edge FST in 5W-30. I was told by the assistant, after first looking at one that had no reference to VW 507[ but did say, not suitable for vehicles with a DPF] that they have probably just changed the label on the front. The price tag also said $52.49.
I was rescued by a switched on female store manager, who I had spoken to on the phone earlier who was able to sort it.
The correct Castrol has a different shape bottle to the others.
A relevant video about misconceptions of engine oil.

Go to 10:30 min mark if you think you know about engine oil.
The low down of the video:
Approval from VW means the oil recommended meets the minimum quality/standards.
There are better oils for your engine that may not have an approval, getting an approval is an option
For the sake of maintaining your new car warranty, it is strongly advised that you stick to what the manufacturer recommends in terms of what's been approved.
Regardless of whether they are better or not, in your opinion, try telling that to a VW service manager when your engine carks it due to incorrect unapproved oil.
The fact that VW approve it is good enough for most of us and if the "better" oils choose not to seek approval means only that they miss out selling to one of the top 3 producers of vehicles in the world. Hardly a sensible business decision methinks.
Even Nulon finally got VW approval for some of their oils
Incidentally Liqui Moly do have VW approved oils and are recognised as being one of the "better" brand of oils.
