i pour it over the fence
Hi everyone.
Just wondering, what should I do with disposing old brake fluid? I know I should keep the fluid in a bottle, but I don't think I'm supposed to throw it out in the trash, and certainly not the environment. Anyone?
While I'm on the topic, what about other fluids/oils including coolant, and engine and gearbox oil? I'm after for the proper way to dispose of these things.

All waste oils and coolants should be put in a sealed old oil container and taken to the tip.
IT IS FREE.
Simply tell them you have sump oil to dispose of and help the environment for FREE.

Donot pour it into the ground, that is a silly comment.

OR last time I took it to my local garage and asked him to take care of it. HE was cool about it as well.
Cheers for the tips.
Take fluids to the tip or local workshop.

I have a 15/25L (who remembers) ex liquid chlorine container I use to collect all my oil... a few more changes then I will have to take it to the tip.
The plus side of a VR6 is that it takes 5L of oil, so you can tip in a full bottle, then empty the drain pan into that same bottle. Unlike other cars which take 4.x L where you never want to waste that little bit of new oil so need some other place to put your leavings
As for coolant... never drained it, however I have replaced hoses and sensors hoping I could pull and replace before it all run out... so that ended up on (and killing) the grass. Most likely because it was hot, although possibly because it was poison...
Gearbox - never needed to worry about it before.
Brake fluid... well that legally has to go into a coke bottle along with some chlorine
