    Alternative to G12 Coolant????

    Hi all,

Not strictly fuel or lubricant but is there an alternative to the G12 coolant recommended for our vehicles?

Not all towns / areas have VW dealerships and if you need to top up coolant, what would you use?

G12+ is available from Imparts and HSY. Not Strictly dealer mate but is well recommend you stick to it. G12+ is bottled by Febi Bilstein and they also supply VAG and is the real deal. Dont be fooled into anything else.

Indeed. It may cost you more in repairs, when the cylinder head corrods, then you'd wish you've sent a taxi to pick up that coolant from the nearest dealer.
You can always get it posted and keep some extra bottle or 2, it's not that expensive, it's actually cheaper than many aftermarket coolants.

...and yes, it can be (should be) used in the older VW cars as well.

Worth noting, that Penrite apparently has G12++ approval from Volkswagen for their pink '5 Year' coolant. Can be bought pre-mixed, or as a concentrate.

    Alternative to G12 Coolant????

^ you beat me to it Umai. I was just up at Supercheap about 30mins ago and both Nulon and Penrite now both have a G12+ spec red semi concentrate coolant available. It was about $48 for a 5L container.

It specifically mentions VW /Audi / Skoda on the bottle as well as G12 and G12+.

Nulon is not manufacturer-approved, though. I don't think Nulon has any apporovals for anything they sell.

They're happy to 'recommend' their products to suit any given application, though.

I just bought a 5L Nulon concentrate and a 5L destilled water, topped up the coolant today. Was going to do a flush first, but couldn't find my hex key.... and also don't have a second jack, to prop her up good. Hoping this will do until dealer checks it out in a week

    Cheers.
