    New Eos - bluetooth options

    Hi All,

I pick up my new Eos on Friday.

    Black
    Individual Package
    Bi-Xenon Headlights
    Alarm
    Electric seats
    Dyn Audio
    Sat Nav

    Can't wait

I am not sure what to do about the Bluetooth kit though. I have been told that the new kit is out (I assume this is the 9W3 that I have read about) and that it will be $2200 installed from the dealer.

Has anyone else had a 9W3 installed in their Eos by an Australian dealer? Do they really cost this much? Thinking of importing one from OS for ~$400 US and installing it myself.... not sure if I need VCDS to do it though.

    Cheers,
    David

I pretty much have the same as your but no xenon and dynaudio and 2 weeks older

I have booked in with Dean at Volkspower to get premium BT installed.

He is doing it for around the $1500 mark. A lot better than VW

I will let you know how it goes/.

    Hi,

Thanks for the response - if it goes well for you I may do the same.

Do you know whether the "Premium Bluetooth" that VW offer in Australia is the 9W3 (1Z0 035 729 D) that people talk about in the forums?

I have asked my local dealer about the Premium Bluetooth and was told the part number was VGA051437 which turns up nothing on Google. I have also been told that the Premium Bluetooth only works with phones that support rSAP and that it specifically *wont* work with the iPhone 3G/S.

However - all over the world the talk in the forums is that the iPhone works fine with the 9W3 (and A2DP even works with the "D" model) yet the iPhone does not support rSAP.

This makes me very confused and I am starting to suspect that the Premium Bluetooth being sold by dealers in Australia is not the 9W3. I do not want to spend $1500-$2000 on the Premium Bluetooth from my dealer only to find that it is not even the 9W3 genuine OEM VW part. The 9W3 is a $275 US option in the USA!!!

I'm thinking of importing one ($350 US online) and installing it myself!

    Cheers,
    David

I'm in the same boat with my GTI Pirelli. The dealer told me exactly the same: two options: $700 or $2200 (premium), premium does not work with Iphone 3g.

Personally, I think $1500 to $2200 is quite steep for bluetooth functionality. I am also considering VW Accessory 000 051 433 C, which is essentially the Bury CC 9060. Great functionality, the only downside is that you have another device/screen in your car rather than using the RNS510 screen...

Have a look at page 17:

http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_i...VW--Skoda.html Works with Eos or Golf.

About $750 landed, and as long as you are half handy, easy to install. Took me an hour. You'll need someone with VAGCOM to make it work with the MFD in the instruments, but even without that it fully integrates with the RNS510.

You can get them installed in Aus for about $850 - 900 all up. Search for Fiscon on the site here and you will find heaps of people who have done them.

Anyone in Brisbane is more than welcome to come and see mine (I can do the VAGCOM coding as well in Brisbane).

    Hi,

Just an update on this - I spoke to Volkspower in Melbourne and asked exactly what they install for $1500. They said that it was the VW genuine 9W3 (1Z0 035 729 D) and that the iPhone works fine with it.

I still can't get my local dealer to give me the proper VW part number of the "Premium Bluetooth" that they sell although they claim it does NOT work with the iPhone.

So either the dealer installs something completely different (not the 9W3) or they are just mistaken about the iPhone. It could also just be that the iPhone works but isn't on the "officially supported" list and that translates to them telling me that the iPhone doesn't work.

Anyway - it's of some concern to me that so far the dealer has only managed to tell me I can get one kit for $700 and another for $2200. Apart from that the information is scarce (what brand they are, part numbers, what do they do differently etc). I actually suspect that the $2200 option is the 9W3 but I can't make that decision based on a guess.

    Cheers,
    David

The $700 system (9W2 I believe) is a very basic system, no integration with stereo or instrument display.

I believe the 9W3 is the Skoda-based system. See http://vwnavi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10152 for more information. It does NOT use rSAP according to those posts.

As far as I know the only thing that 9W3 at your $1500 gives you over the Fiscon at ~$800 is voice activation.

And also as far as I know the VW dealer fitted $2200 is an rSAP system that will not work with your iPhone.
