    HID upgrade anyone?

Knowing from factory it is a $2000-2500 option, anyone went for after market upgrade?

I've been quoted about $400 to have it installed. Its one of those electric voltage controlled so there would be no engine light apparently...

    anyone have any suggestions?

This topic has been covered on the VW Eos Club Forum - the installation requires resetting parameters in the vehicle computer system and also may infringe vehicle compliance with ADR regulations. The latter may cause problems with insurance being an unauthorised modification to the vehicle.

The most feasible solution to the lousy European standard headlights appears to be the fitting of high-intensity after-market bulbs however there have been reports you need access to a VAG-COM unit to change some of the settings for them to work properly.

As the Eos electrical system is probably shared with other VW models, I suggest you should also post this query in the VW Car Audio and Electronics forum on this website as it is highly likely this problem has been addressed by owners of other VW models.

Not another HID Blinding, No Respect for other drivers, Illegal practice...

Unless you fit 4000 - 4500K Bulbs, Auto Leveling Headlights, Projector Lamp enclosure, Headlight Washer System you will be just another one of those i*#0ts blinding other road users.

Sorry to open another can of worms, as this has been talked about on forums (including this one) for such a long time.

But yes, you can pick up kits on eBay for $50.00 and you should be able to install yourself.
