I've just posted details on Club Touareg of a proposed trip to the Flinders ranges, Oodnadatta and Barossa.

Check it out and let me know if you're interested.

I'm off tomorrow, no starters other than me. I dropped the Oodnadatta as the km/day sums got a bit big for a leisurely cruise through SA.

Hey MRL T5, I don't know how much notice you need for a meeting, but probably at the end of March, early April we'll be in Woomera and the Clare Valley. I'm happy to swap mobiles in a PM and maybe we can get together for a cuppa or a vino or something. I'll check for a post tomorrow at noon before I leave, and if i get a chance somewhere along the trip.

    Cheers

Guys the trip is done an dusted. Had a great time and am certainly glad I dropped the Oodnadatta Track from the itinerary. There was so much to see and do just in the Flinders. I'll post a few photos on my photo site in the next week or so.

Only had one drama. I was driving a bit quick on the road between Arkaroola and Copley and bottomed out in a flood way. In the couple of hundred metres that it took me to recover and work out what was going on, I'd trashed the rear left tyre. Of course, none in my size within cooee of where I was. All good though, a tyre company in Pt Augusta overnighted one up from Adelaide and I was away.

When the tyre speared in, it also popped the rear left guard, so a bit of hundred mile an hour tape held that in place till I got home. When I started to clean up at home, I found that the bracket that holds the guard in place had broken in a couple of places, so I made a couple of new ones from aluminium. Can hardly tell there was ever a problem

Here's a couple of photos of the wheel and repair.

Also, anyone have any ideas for cleaning the plastic trim. I think the dealer or someone may have used an Armorall type cleaner once and the plastic is starting to get a white/grey discolouration.

    Cheers

    Bob,
    I use this stuff
    "Leatherique Prestine Clean
This amazing pH-correct leather cleaner is perfect for surface cleaning leather that has been deeply conditioned and cleaned with Rejuvenator Oil. It is used several days after the Rejuvenator Oil has brought the dirt and pollutants to the surface.

Prestine Clean is also an excellent vinyl cleaner (including Mercedes MB-Tex), rubber trim, hard plastic, and tyres.

Leatherique Prestine Clean does not contain any harsh chemicals to dry and destroy fine leathers. Nor does it contain silicones. It leaves the surface with a low sheen, but not glossy, surface.
    "

    Available from this site.

The cleaner is fantastic on plastic as it does not dry it out like armorall does. The stuff really cleans off hard to move dirt.
And it is great on the leather.

Do a web search for leatherique and have a read what people are saying, but I am hooked with the stuff.

Glad you were able to fix the rear trim, how did the wheel hold up...no scuffs I trust. Lucky you only did a tyre and you and the family are safe.

Well done Bob, great trip... You certainly have a way with tyres! How come you didn't repair that one beside the road??
