Hi All,
I've recently bought the amazing R5. My air con is not blowing cool air. I've read so many posts online regarding the coupling, clutch, compressor, fault code, cabin filter and so on but I'm not getting any fault code, cabin filter is fairly new, already took the car to the air con shop and did flush and re-gas, then they checked the electrical and said that the compressor is dead (pretty vague assumption). So after looking at few youtube videos, I've just pulled the air con out this morning (had the gas emptied already). The coupling belt looks almost new. I don't know how to test the clutch but here are the variations: (by clutch I mean the black piece between the coupling belt and the compressor, I don't know what its actually called)
I can spin both coupling and clutch clockwise
I can spin both coupling and clutch anti-clockwise
I can spin coupling clockwise while holding the clutch
I cannot spin the coupling anti-clockwise while holding the clutch
I've uploaded a video on youtube for your reference.
I have also tested the temperature sensor plug on the compressor while vehicle running & AC on, both + & - are circulating correct. I did this to AC plug on the compressor to make sure compressor is getting power. I got + but no -
I assume that's because the plug wasn't connected to the compressor and that the negative is supplied by the AC compressor bolts attached to the engine.
I am going to check AC relay this afternoon. But my problem is finding out if my compressor or the clutch is faulty or not. So that I can eliminate the issue to electrical fault.
Also how to check to see if any members with Vag-com in Sydney who can help me check the fault code? I cannot see any error displayed but the software might show a fault.
Any guidance or comment would be appreciated.
P.S, I've just serviced the car as well, went through hell to find 506.01 oil in Sydney! Phew...![]()
