I have a Touareg 07 - 70,00k - just been informed that the discs and pads need replacing - cannot be skimmed - VW insist that discs and pads are matched and must be replaced together.
The cost is $2700 ! ! !
Upon inquiry, the dealer informs me that that's quite good (mileage) - they have had to do the job @ 30,000 in some cases ! ! !
Overall, the costs of servicing the Touareg v my BMW X5 is HORIFFIC - the cost of VW spares will bring tears to the eyes!
I'm scared spitless at possible future expenditure on this vehicle - not to mention the cost of oil - $333 for an oilchange plus filter plus plug, for instance.
BTW, the VW and Touareg are serviced by the same dealer - different departments.
FROSTY

You should be able to get it cheaper by using aftermarket parts.
Perhaps these http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....Name=WDVW&rd=1
You will also be able to read more about touaregs over at clubtoureg.com forums.
I'd be very surprised if your BMW brakes were significantly cheaper
