3x child seats across the back

Does anyone have an earlier model Treg (03-05) and has successfully fitted 3x child seats across the second row?

There is a lot of space at the back, I don't see the reason that you shouldn't be able to fit them.
You can ask this people. Adelaide Motor Trimmers ~ Willshire Motor Trimmers Adelaide

The width of a Touareg (first generation) is 1928mm.

With Bub no.3 due in January, we now have to ensure 3 baby seats will fit also.

    I cant help you answer the above question, however the following are my findings as I am going through the same thing at the moment trying to source 3 baby seats for the Passat;

    Passat Exterior width: 1820mm
Interior (rear) usable width (inner door handle to inner door handle) i.e. narrowest part from door to door: 1333mm

    Here are some other cars I am now considering (Comparable interior widths);
    1500mm Toyota Torago
    1480mm Ford Territory
    1450mm Falcon Sedan
    1420mm Toyota Kluger
    1420mm Holden Sportswagan
    1400mm Ford Mondeo MC
    1380mm Honda Accord Euro
    1370mm Toyota Aurion / Camry
    1350mm Citreon C5
    1350mm Opel Insignia Select
    1300mm Mitsubishi Lancer (new shape)
    1300mm Holden Captiva LX
    1300mm Skoda Supberb

Considering that a safe n sound Compaq is 440mm wide, to fit 3 = 1320mm

So things are looking to now be a squeeze.

I have taken our two baby seats out; Safe n Sound Meridian and Maxi Rider AHR.
We are going to a baby shop tomorrow to conduct a test fit of suitable baby seats.

If we can't make it fit, looks like I will need to sell up and get a Falcon...

Will keep you up to date on the outcome...

Thanks. Friends of ours have a 4yo and expecting twins, and they need to upgrade. So they don't need 3x full size seats but still need reasonable space and I was trying to think of what in the VW stable would suit them.

We went through these questions when choosing our Multivan (to replace a Subaru Outback). You can get slim line child seats so you can cram more in, although I don't know that there is a slim line rear facing capsule.
Three seats across isn't too bad when they are little and using the harnesses, but when they are using the stock seatbelt it's a pain to squeeze your hand between the seats to plug the belt in and out.

We looked at 7+ seaters so you had the option to put some in the back row or to have a spare seat for a childs friend or for something else. Then there is another problem you will quickly come across...

The list of 7 seaters that have child restraints in the back row is pretty short, the Territory does, the Torago doesn't. (The Kia Carnival and the Honda Odessey do too). Problem with the Territory is that there is SFA boot space when you use those back seats + the child restraints go strait across the middle. The others aren't too bad, although you need to remember that putting child seats in the second row might just mean you can't access the back row since you need to drop a seat in the second row to get to the back row.

Then there is the question of luggage space for trips and whether you can fit in enough stuff for 5 people...

But to finish my ramblings, we ended up with the Multivan, while it might be a pain to park in some places and it's too tall for some car parks that means it's got heaps of room inside for people and stuff (including lots of storage draws/spaces). It's great on fuel, it cruises beautifully, and you can access the back row without putting the seats down (if you walk through or put the bigger kids who can put their own seatbelts on in the back).

So yeah, slimline seats or get a Multivan

ope126 - how'd you go? Do you know what the interior width of the Treg is at all? I.e. is it wider or narrower than the Passat?

The_Hawk yes they are trying as much as they can to avoid a van, and stay with a 5-seater conventional vehicle, due in part to the lack of vehicles with anchor points in the 3rd row.

I have tested and can fit 2x safe n sound compaq deluxe and 1x safe n sound highliner in the Passat, so for me all good!
And considering the width of the Treg is 10cm wider, I would safely say that you could fit 3 seats also, maybe even the bigger ones such as Maxi Riders...

The Octavia wagon has a nice boot though.
