    VW quality

    Hello All:

In the Syd Morning Hearld Sat 18/8/07, 'Drive' Section- again VW has come in for a spray from the writer concerning VW quality and they rate 'poorly' in 'independant 'surveys'.

Does any memeber know what he is on about? What surveys? etcetc

I know that VW in the USA had issues re 'sludge' in the engines re owners using wrong oil, extending service intervals, and having cars serviced by 'joe blow' the mechanic!!

Does any member have quality; relability; or other problems that would support the SMH writers comment?

    Nope, no issues from me.

I think there is a thread somewhere on here about the "quality issues" and how the stories came about.
I have my RED , 3DR MKV GTI with leather in manual and I love it!

that stupid article was based on the cars that came in for warranty issues within the first 5 months. vw owners being fussy, they come in for every rattle and peice of fluff they find (and so they, we, should).

obviously if you buy a 14000$ korean peice of s*** then you're gonna be laughed at for bringing it back to the dealer for a rattle.

this quality survey has minor significance but its mainly a load of rubbish imo

Further re the article in the SMH.

Go to Drive.com.au then to 'know' then to 'features' this tells you all about these surveys, and car quality. There is 6 pages of reading.. VW types did not do well, but exact reasons are not stated. It said the Beetle did poorly, along with the Polo. Passat and Jetta came in at bottom of the list also!! It did say VW suffered from electrical problems; rattles etcetc. Again nothing as to definite causes.

Apparently the SMH and the survey results are fond of Mazda cars-- looks like the way to go.

Probably the worst of making certain VW types outside of Germany, where quality control may come under question!!!
