Welcome to VWwA Craig
Glad to have you abroad
Hi All,
Firstly, the big news - I have joined the VW watercooled ranks with the purchase of a 2007 128kw T5 DualCab, with factory tray and towbar. The changing nature of the magazine has meant the need for me to have a vehicle that can tow race cars and haul my show gear around. This year VGA loaned me a similiar truck for VW Warwick, and I was more than impressed. Since I was quickly killing my '77 DC, it will be retired to Historics.
Secondly, Volkswagen Group Australia (VGA) has thrown their support behind two VW only drag racing meets for 2008. The first is on February 23rd-24th at South Coast Raceway, Portland Victoria, and the second is at Warwick on October 4th-5th. Like VGA, I am hoping the watercooled class of racing continues to grow at both these events, and I would encourage those keen on a straight line speed from this forum to visit www.vwma.net.au for more info on VW Portland and drag racing in general. A bracket of racing and trophies has been allocated for VW/AUDI/SEAT vehicles.
I collect my T5 in the coming weeks, so I'll post a photo when it is home in the VWMA carport.
Cheers
Craig

South Coast Raceway will also run their usual Friday night Street Meet on the same weekend as VW Portland, and Scott Cleary has invited any street registered VWs that have entered for VW Portland to have a run as well. The weekend licence that is issued as part of the VW drag racing can also be used for the Friday night. Otherwise, for those who have set up camp on the Friday, there is a bit of extra entertainment thrown in as a bonus.
Seems like no one is going?!#$ i mean come on!
What’s behind you doesn’t matter..
