It's interesting how the Mk1 sells compared with the Mk5, must be a lot cheaper. Does anyone have pricing?

The biggest sellers there are the locally made Polos...which are the top selling car,the local South African only Citigolf, and the locally built Golf 5 and Jetta 5 models.
The rest of the range is fully imported, and I beleive the next generation of Golfs and Jettas will be imports as well, for the first time ever.
Check the website for pricing.
There are huge diffirences for the MK1 and MK5 models.
The car market is very much down this year, and all the manufacturers have been hard hit.
VW is still number 1 in passenger car sales...including Audi and Seat, followed by Toyota, its most direct rival in that market.
Holy crap, only 11 Passats? Even VW in NZ manage to shift 40-50 per month...
South Africa has always been much more of a Jetta country than a Passat country,as the Jettas are locally made, and the Passat is fully imported.
As South Africa is a sedan loving place, the Jetta usually also outsells the Golf, and the Polo Classic sedan outsells the regular hatch that we get here.
