I was at South Yarra VW in Melbourne today, and they tell me this model will only have its proper official launch in January or February...
Funny that I have driven one,and a few people have taken their deliveries...

I was at Camberwell VW today, and apparently from today, the 1.4 TSI model is appearing on the VWA website.
One was being delivered,as well as a new spec TDI in a new colour, called Silver Leaf.
It looks like a mixture of Reflex Silver and Wheat Beije, but it is replacing Wheat Beije in the line up.

Please let me know if you know about the dry clutch cooling.

To their credit the guys at the local dealership knew all about it (you’ll be surprised how many dealers from other brands kid dumb about next years model) and sorted out the order for me.

I’m getting close to racking up 3000ks and so far I have no complaints. Not sure if twin charged golf owners noticed the same issue, but the engine was very tight to start with (I’ve previously had a new Subaru and I’d say the tsi is even more gruff and ‘on/off’ than the notorious boxer in its early life), but now its settled in quite nicely, with a noticeable improvement when I hit the 2000km mark. DSG seems to be a bit smoother than when I first got it, although that could just be me subconsciously adapting my driving style to suit it.

Fuel economy has improved considerably – going from mid 7s on the highway (initially) down to around 6l/100. Town is varying between 8 and 10. It seems to get better with every drive so stay tuned.

Haven’t timed the 0-100 but feels 8 secondish.

No reliability issues yet – a slight creak seems to come from the rear driver’s side door at highway speeds, but nothing else to report. Touch wood it stays that way!

Best thing with new radio set up mentioned in the previous post is that it now has a 3.5mm aux jack! I think you lose the 12v socket in the centre console though (I remember one being on the GT I also tested).

I bought it on the advice that the spec is exactly the same as the old fsi and apart from the aux jack / 12v socket (a pretty fair trade in my opinion!) I haven’t seen any other difference. If anyone gets hold of the spec prior to VW popping it on their website, pls post it up. I’d be curious to see what is on my own car!

    Happy to answer any questions.

    Hello white elephant.
I'm considering nowdays buying JETTA but have no idea which one the TDI 6 rates DSG or the TSI 7 rates DSG (which has dry clutch).
As far as they told me they experienced 600,000 and even 700,000 kms life cycle of the 6 rates DSG which has wet clutch .
The dealer couldn't supply any information about the new 7 rates DSG neither could he tell me about the cooling system of the dry clutch.
The wet clutch in the 6 rates DSG could withstand high loads due to being cooled by the gear oil. I'm not sure wether the dry clutch could withstand heavy traffic up a hill while driving in stop and drive mode.
On the other hand, how is the 1.4 TSI engine compared to the 1.9 tdi engine from the viewpoint of such mode of drive and life cycle?
Will you be kind and let me know soon about?
    Thanks in advance.

I don't think you will find the jetta has the 1.9L, it will be the 2.0l tdi.
The new model TDI Jettas will not have the new DSG7 due to the torque.
However the new Audi 1.9tdi has the 7 speed DSG.
I suspect its only a matter of time before we see this motor and box in the Jetta.
Its going to depend what you want the car for.
What are you planing to do with this vehicle, suburban or hwy driving.
If its just going to be around town and you only plan to keep the car a few years
I think you will be better off saving your money and not paying the extra for TDI
It sounds like your planing to tow a 36 foot cruiser with it up hills.
If your sources are correct and their getting 600-700000k's out of these boxes
I doubt we will see to many reach this distance in Aus.
Don't worry to much about DSG as soon as you get one you will only think how great they are.
Your best bet is go test drive the TDI 6 and the TSI 7

The Jetta has the 103TDI 2.0l TDI engine available with 6 speed VW oiled clutch dsg transmission.

The Audi 7 speed DSG dry clutch S-Tronic is NOT the same as the VW 7 speed DSG dry clutch trannie - they are WORLDS apart. The Audi handles 550nm, the VW one does not; the Audi one is for longituinal use and for quattro, the VW is for transverse FWD use only.

The Audi box is never likely to find its way into a VW vehicle, perhaps there will be a beefier version eventually which might go into the Touareg.

    Thanks for the advise.
I bought today the JETTA TDI 1.9 DSG 6 (wet clutch).
The dealer told me they dont have DSG 7 (dry clutch) on the TDI.
It will be supplied in about two weeks. I was consulting several drivers and have passed over some drawings of both DSG construction ( the 6 and 7 ).
I need the car for about 30,000 km a year in an mountain side and in town.
The car must stand heavy traffic up a hill in stop and start mode which need high torque in low rpm.
The wet clutch DSG fit more for heavy duty purposes. and there is no doubt about it is better than the dry clutch when high torque is needed and under heavy duty conditions.
Experienced JETTA DSG 6 (wet clutch) drivers told me they have made 700,000 kms with this kind of gearbox under heavy duty conditions.
I'll let you know about it after getting the car.

I have been driving VW POLO classic 2001 SDI 1.9 (no turbo) mannual transmission for 7 years. Have done 250,000 kms with the POLO.
The car is very reliable. No problems at all except for window fixing.
But it does not have the excellent dynamic behavior of the jetta turbo. Needless to say that the jetta is bigger and more comfortable.
VW has had problems with the automatic gearboxes till about 2002 when they replaced it by the DSG 6 tecnology which became a great success.
It is followed nowdays by the DSG 7 . Any way there is not much experience with the DSG 7 dry clutch because it is a young technology ( about 1 year on the road)
I'm getting the Jetta TDI 1.9 DSG 6. colour is white.
I have looked but not seriusly at the ALPHA 159 jts 2.2L which has 8.7 sec for 0-100km/h. and 234 N-M torque at 4500 rpm. By the way the jetta 1.4L TSI DSG 7 has the impressive 8.5 sec for 0-100km/h. and 240NM torque
I feel more confident with the VW technology, so I wasnt seriusly looking at the competitors products.
The DSG 6 wet clutch technology is a proven technology since it is running since 2002 . This kind of gearbox will continue being installed on high torque VW cars. At the moment DSG 7 cannot stand torque higher than 250N-M.

ARISTO,you obviously do not live in Australia.
    Where do you live...
I think the Jetta will be a big upgrade from the Polo, and probably far more reliable than the Alfa.
    Good luck,and report back.
