VW to enter WRC maybe - Wheels Magazine

Buoyed by winning the Dakar Rally this month, Volkswagen may extend its motor sporting activity to the world rally championship...

That would be sweeet, but what platform to use... Golf? Polo? 'Rocco? Tiguana?

well they already have the rally-spec Polo S2000 which would save costs but maybe (hopefully) a scirocco could be in the works. seems like they favour the 'rocco as the VW motorsport representative, it certainly looks the part.

I seriouly doubt they will use this model Polo as their Motorsport weapon if it is due for replacement this year.

It is more probable to use the Sirocco, which will help boost sale of that, + the flow on effect to the rest of the range.

I think the issues with the Polo and maybe the Scirocco as well as I don't believe they have the dimensions to fit in the WRC class. Doing a quick google and a bit of research I'd say that both would have to have some body modifications to make it length wise. I'd say the Scirocco would be the pick of the bunch though as I see it's shape (especially the rear glass) being able to accommodate propper aero (read big ass wing).

Hahahah they don't allow diesels in F1 (aka Audi and LeMans) .... if they did it would be good.

Why? Pit stops are one of the great things in F1 and it's not like IRL or NASCAR where they have to worry all the time about fuel consumption and lean fuel runs etc.
