Used Volkswagens Are Safest
The Monash University Accident Research Centre has released its findings on the safest second hand cars you can buy in Australia and New Zealand.
The Golf 4/Bora,and Golf 5 /Jetta won in the small car class.
The Passat scored well in the medium class, while the Polo scored well in the light car category.
Another good reason for choosiong VW products, both new and used, over their competitors.

Doesn't surprise me at all. Makes me feel even more happy and safe in my car. The R always feels very safe to me. You have airbags everywhere, big cosseting seats, the lowish roof and the dash angle towards you. You feel very cocooned in a steel shell. I like it a lot. It's good to know that it is safe as well.
Where did the Audi's come in the study? Someone on OzAudi smashed into someone in their A3 who pulled out in front of him at 60km/h and he walked away. I also remember seeing somewhere an S3 or A3 being tboned at 100km/h by someone running a red light and the driver (only person in the car) walking away uninjured or with only minor injuries. Photos were nuts.

The only Audis mentioned in the survey were the A4 s,in the medium sector, and they scored BETTER THAN AVERAGE.
