Haven't driven the Q7 myself, but I see the appeal of the model and I'll give it a look when next we replace our 4WD.

What's wrong with a car that can comfortably take 5 adults on a long trip, can tow a caravan or large boat with ease, offers plenty of performance for the road (and can be a hoot on the racetrack as well), offers some serious safety protection for the occupants and has the full luxury kit to go with it?

$260K is similar money to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S which pips the Q7 for power (404kW) but only offers 3/4 the torque (750Nm) - so there's definitely a market for this new Q7.

Yeah I know, I always think that having only 750Nm in your life leaves a bit of a hole.
The other good thing about the Q7 in relation to the Cayenne is that it's more of just a big blob of vehicle as opposed to being an obese 911 beaten with the ugly stick.
    Cheers,

    That's why I didn't say other people wouldn't buy it, only that I wouldn't

If it floats (or tows) your boat and you're happy to spend that sort of money on a fast depreciating asset, then feel free to go right ahead and buy a new one.

I'm sure it would be a real hoot at the lights (you might want to remove the "V12" badge if it comes with one though, otherwise that might spoil the "Q ship" element of surprise)
