Yes, I heard that there was to be a model between the AWD R20 Golf and the GTI in the near future. It's supposedly meant to make 177kw and be FWD. Chief VW GTI engineer aparently hinted at it in an interview. (in which he also hinted at the AWD R20)

R20 still 99% likely to be AWD. If its not I'm cancelling my order .......

Yep id do the same, if it aint AWD it aint an ".:R" in my opinion. It freaking better be AWD!!!!!

Officially revealed!
Boasting 198kw and 350Nm. 0-100 in in 6.5 for the manual, and 6.4 for the DSG seems a bit conservative i think, especially since they're practically the same as the R32 (6.3 for the DSG though). FWD though
