Isn't it strange how a company that sells ALOT of cars is supposedly being bought out by a company that in comparison, doesn't sell very many at all?

Porsche AG are an extremely wealthy manufacturer, who not only produce nice cars, but also do a lot of R&D for other makers.
Its a smart move because it makes VW less likely to be taken-over by a foreign maker. It also strengthens Porsche position. Plus it gives Porsche a huge parts bin. If I were a lucky Porsche share holder I would be pretty happy I reckon.
Believe it or not VW were in trouble, just as GM and Ford are (US). At this point in time, if I were a car maker right now I would be worried about the future. Not just oil prices, but Asian cheap assembly factories.

Hmmm... I guess better for Porsche to take over VW than any other manufacturer. Imagine GM or Ford taking control of WV.

Perish the thought! I would slit my wrists!

Who wants to have a select few manufacturers ruling the world of automotive? One of the many reasons I purchased my beautiful VW was because they are independant and their ideas are not controlled by such entities as Ford and GMH.

to give you an idea just how backwards ford are in their thinking...

I own an FPV GT-P, its one of the better vehicles that Ford manufacture - worldwide, yet Ford US wont allow Ford Australia to export it, because it might harm their US interests

I've wondered why Ford do this. I mean they have the fantastic Territory, and your FPV GT-P and even the standard Falcon is better than the US made cars, but they won't allow Ford Aust to export them. It beggers belief, IMO. Ford Australia has some fantastic cars, as does Holden, which would make killing in some overseas markets. I know Holden sells quite alot to the Middle East and they have a bloody good reputation there.
