Those renderings look bad IMO. The rear doors look so much more smaller than the front ones (RX8 without the coolness of rear opposite hinge doors), the rears look like the 1 series (not a bad thing, but I expected something new!) and the styling as a whole just looks very conservative. Hope the renderings aren't anywhere close to what the real thing will be.
Rear looks like a Beemer 1-series to me ... don't like it much. Maybe it'll be better in the metal.

I really don't like it at all... It looks way too much like the new corolla!
And it's not perfect for a chick!!! Girls like a better looking car!!!

Yet again, Dave's right. i think that there is some (possibly future) penalty in Europe for cars over a certain capacity, hence the need for smaller engines with TSI. Having said that, it would be interesting to see how the 2.0L fares with TSI, and how it compares, stats wise and driving wise, with the present car. Will it be smoother? Will it have as linear a torque curve? VW got it just right with the MarkV, so what have they found that needs improving, and how will they go about it, rather than just perform cost-cutting and facelifts.

One of the tax thresholds in Germany / EU is at 1.4L (ie. 1.4L is in lower group than say 1.5 of 2L). Hence the use and multitude of 1.4L engines from Europe (Polo, Golf, Corsa, Fiesta etc)
Thats ... I'm sorry that looks pretty bad. Lets just hope that the GTi's and the ARRR32's look a bit better.
I wouldn't buy that, I guess I'm skipping that generation and going for the mkVII, whatever the hell that would look like... better not look like a Toyota or something...
