    MK6 .:R20 Spied

Mods please move this if it is in the wrong place...

    http://www.leftlanenews.com/volkswagen-r20-turbo.html
"Don’t believe the badges on this car for a second, this is no diesel! What you’re looking at is the first mule for Volkswagen’s new hot hatch — the R20. The center-mounted dual exhaust gives away the true identity of this test car. We can also see this mule is running the performance brake package from the Audi S3.

Taking the spot of VR6-powered Golf R32, this R20 will use the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with direct injection from the Audi TT-S. This means the R20 should have about 270hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. We can also expect sportier front and rear ends once the production bodywork appears.

Power will be sent to all four wheels via either a six-speed manual or DSG semi-automatic gearbox. The run to 60 mph should be dealt with in the 5 to 5.5 second range, with a top end limited to 155 mph.
Visually, a more aggressive front end, a rear spoiler and center-mounted exhaust will set the R20 apart from lesser GTIs. The R20 is expected to be offered in three- and five-door body styles, so the upcoming hatch will offer performance and versatility.
Although the R20 offers a lot to get excited about, we haven’t even mentioned the best part – it will be available in the United States. The Euro-spec R20 is expected to make its debut this May at the ADAC 24-hour race at the Nürburgring racing circuit, with the U.S. car likely to surface at November’s Los Angeles Auto Show. Expect sales to start later this year or in early 2010."

Centre pipes are the shiz. Will look better in 3 door for sure. Will be interesting to see what external 'touches' they put on this R20/GTI-R/whatever to differentiate it from a GTI.
