Real roads have corners, AWD is the only way to get that much power to the ground reliably while turning.
Better not tell that to anyone with a Corvette Z06, Porsche 911 GT3 or GT2, Ferrari F430, Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Ferrari Enzo, Maserati MC12, Porsche Carrera GT, Koenigsegg CCXR, McLaren F1, Lotus Exige 240R etc etc.

AWD is actually worse (then RWD) when it comes to very high performance vehicles on paved surfaces.

Also, up to a certain point, Front Engine FWD is better then Front Engine AWD. Similar grip levels with less driveline losses.

Correct, sorry, I was referring to VAG cars, of which none are RWD (except some concepts). So between FWD and AWD, AWD wins.

Drags are the best way of determining how fast and powerful a car is (trap speed). Nothing informs people better about differences that particular performance modifications have made before and after.

You better tell Ferrari, Pagani, Koeniggsegg, Aston Martin etc they're doing something wrong

EDIT: Dammit I was beaten. I didn't check the next page!

No, it's the best way of seeing how they go in a straight line... What about braking and cornering etc?

So you've narrowed all performance down to straight line?

He's right. Drag racing (ET & Trap Speed) best shows a car's outright power.
