Skoda Scout coming out later this year might be worth a look. Probably be able to get my hands on one of these months earlier than a tiguan...
Welcome Ian
I have a question that not even the VW Media sites can answer
What is the wading depth of the Tiguan ?

I see the full brochure is now on the VWA website. I notice it seems like all the vehicles pictured have the optional New York style 18" wheels. I'm not so sure I like the look of the standard wheel (Boston) for the 147TSI but there is no picture of the car with the standard wheels that I can see. Only a picture of one wheel.
The nearest I can find on the VWA site is the colour / option selector thingy that changes the wheels when you change models.
Sat in a Tiguan today which means people who have ordered them should have one soon!
Tigaun started shipping end of May / early June - we had one on order and picked it up June Long Weekend.
Has anyone seen any on the roads?
Gary Crick VW in Maroochydore has a white TDI manual available for immediate delivery.
Sat in it on Saturday.
I'm sad to say that unless a "GTI" version in manual becomes available I'll not be buying one. The boot is too small for my wife to give up her RAV for, in fact the boot is smaller than a Polo's.
I might be tempted to trade the Polo, but only for a GTI version.

I've seen a few Tiguans around both Auckland and Wellington since March and generally find them to be decent enough looking cars. Though if it were my money, I'd be saving some and getting a Touran for $6000 less.
At the moment it's only available here in 2.0 TDI Automatic, unlikely to ever see any manual versions. This means that the RAV4 2.2 D4D would be getting my money if I were in the market.
Hi guys
Im a new member here and have just ordered my new Tiguan. When I inquired last week about where I could get one was told it was Jan before I could get a black auto. After calling the WA dealers, then the SA dealers, then the Vic dealers I finally located one and pick it up next weekend in WA!!! Am stoked. I guess my point is never give up Im trading my beloved little caddy van but drove a Tiguan this week and really liked it. Now the hassle is trying to find some decent wheels for it......
Bye bye caddy
I ordered a new Tiguan in early June 2008. I did get a number of options, comfort pack, bluetooth which took the price to mid $50K which is excessive for the options offered, but my choice. At the time I ordered it I was quoted 4-6 months as the waiting period and definitely by Christmas. Well its nearly February and there is still no news on when it will arrive. Supposedly it was on the docks back in mid-November but I have my doubts that when this was said it was actually true. I guess the only advantage now for people ordering is that in the current financial climate the European market is depressed and a number made for there are likely to be dumped here. Let's hope so and that my car can actually make it on to one of those boats! If you don't mind an interminable wait then order a Tiguan. If you do then order any one of a number of other very good SUVs without overpriced options and you will probably be happily driving your more economical new car in next to no time.
