Yeah I neally swore out loud when the salesman wrote that down. I said what do you get for that ? He replied with "nothing really"
Got to test drive a new forester today, only an XS but was pretty impressed with the way it drives and the interior space. Should have an XT available for a test drive within the next week or two.

Other internet sources say the Q5 is based on the MLP? chassis with a north-south engine / transmission so while the styling may be similar I don't think it is really a clone.
$4k for dealer delivery will put me off just on principle. That needs a price inquiry more than petrol prices. (Along with metallic / pearl paint, if any manufacturer sells more with than without then the price should include it with the non-met being a optional price reduction)
dealer delivery only ever gets paid by suckers
2x Caddy, 1x Ducato
Dealer delivery on a V10 Toerag is only $2495, they really are pulling their puds trying to charge $4000.
I somewhat agree with Mischa, my target price is usually to drive away at the RRP and pay no onroad costs. Which in WA represents roughly a 10% discount, with the stamp duty being such a rip off. However, with only two dealerships in Perth (ie. no competition) it was a bit harder with the Golf. I was only able to get the dealer delivery off, and still had to pay the stamp duty. (Not that I'm any kind of super-negotiator).
$3500+ for a satnav/radio? You must be f'n joking! Pricewise the Subaru looks much more appealing, for $6000 extra (if you want it) you get leather, satnav and a sunroof, plus it already comes with xenons, a gruntier donk, and a manual transmission in the top model.
I'll definately be waiting for the heat to die down before signing up, also the Tiguan is supposed to be getting released as a 2WD in the future as well as having a DSG gearbox instead of the auto, and who knows, maybe they'll change their minds and bring in the manual too?

I agree regarding the dealer delivery. I've bought a fair few new cars over the past several years and have allways aimed at the RRP price as being the drive away price as an absolute maximum. With my golf I bought an 07 model in August 06 for $1000 under the RRP including dealer delivery, onroad costs, $900 list price worth of accessories and a full tank of diesel. From memory it was about 8K off the listed drive away price. However as I wasnt ready to play the game then and there without seeing the car in the flesh I didnt push on the price. I did get the distinct impression they are not willing to discount bugger all at this stage - so we will see !
yes, on-road. however, i received some sad news today. the 147tsi won't be available till the end of the year. might have to change to 125tsi or 103tdi which dealer says will be available june-july
yes, they're saying to put orders in now 'coz there could be a wait, from what i've been told, looks like its true. might have to ask for the deposit back.
I've been told May 25th is launch date for the TDI Tiguan so that is still 2 months away not the few weeks off dealers are quoting. Hopefully I can wait that long.
Still have yet to test drive the Forester XT. Drove the Rav4 SX6 with the "200 killer wasps" - nice to drive HEAPS of go just off idle !! Very smooth.

Also, some bad news .....
Guy is not positive about the ECU update possibilities for the 125kw Tiguan. Apparently it will have a new ECU that is at the moment impossible to chip..... (same as the BMW 335i) Nobody has been able to crack it in 15 months to date. APR in the USA could potentially do it, but they have no car with that engine in the USA and sees no benefit in spending that amount of money on research at the moment.
Guy will confirm when he sees 1 in OZ and thats only in August/September.
So if you want a quick, manual, small SUV soon, get a Forrester XT.....
