    Black boxes

An interesting article following on from the stuck cruise controlo incident involving a Ford Explorer.

Obviously more recent VWs have some to method to log and record faults, but do they act like 'pseudo' black boxes so that someone can determine what happened in the last few seconds preceding an accident?

IIRC this has been available on some US made cars for a few years. Of course the civil liberties people were up in arms about the potential for "invasion of privacy". They thought the possibility of police crash investigators being able to find out someone was doing 120mph in a 30mph zone just 2 seconds before a fatal crash just wan't fair !!!
