Cars that have great cult followings even here in australia are yank cars. would anyone here turn down a ford gt500 or a viper. Some of the names on that list are among the most respected names in the automotive world

yeah i dunno about that. The americans have styles some amazing cars.
Most of them drive like pigs though

I always wanted a 65 mustang until i drove one. Was just like driving my old XY falcon.
I have a real soft spot for the early stingrays too. Such a sexy car

Not many there on my most respected names list......a mixture.......a couple of good ones mixed with quite a few very ordinary ones! But you overlooked the Corvette Stingray which was a good one.

Dodge Viper....V10 truck engine.....goes like the clappers, needs to tow it's own fuel tanker but they forgot one important little thing.........brakes!!!

Chrysler.......which Chrysler was the good one

    Cheers

Have you ever seen any of these cars? Build quality is s***, as someone said, they need brakes and suspension. They look mean and thats it.
Stingray is a good looking car on the outside, crap inside. It can be a cult car or whatever you wanna call it, but i still prefer everything about my R32

I've driven a number of Mustangs, a Chev Camaro and any number of Jeeps, various Chryslers and Dodges of varying vintages (not recent models). As I said in my earlier posts...the Yanks just don't get it.......no handling, no brakes, no finesse......more cubic inches to make up for the deficiencies elsewhere.

That they still don't get it is illustrated by the Viper.

    Cheers

I too love classic americans, camaros stangs and stingrays, plus a few other more odd balls the 68 dodge dart etc, but for the most part, especially in standard form, these cars are terrible. but then again, there are always upgrades you can do.

I only want one cause of the shape and the burblin V8, they're classics, nobody can deny that, the fact that they arn't too good at drving, just means you got to put a few extra hours into em!

Fair comment and it illustrates that we are all different with different likes and dislikes....nobody is right or wrong, we just have different tastes. Personally I like old pommie cars even though many may not have been terribly good cars they just appeal to me.

I still miss my 1970 Mini Cooper S......when minis were really minis!
