I went to look at this the other day.
    Decent guy to talk to.
One of the few times I've looked at a car where the seller points out all the bad stuff upfront.
The rust in the picture is just surface.
That guard support is indeed just bent out at the top. The damaged guard is inside the car and the story adds up.
The rust beside the windscreen is really the only major problem as far as rust.
A few other tiny bits here and there, but nothing that I could see being a problem for RWC.

I'd pull the front apart and repaint from windscreen forward as the radiator support panel also has surface rust.
and rats have been living in the engine bay,.. it's a mess.

The engine does run, no smoke, but has been sitting for a long time. Carb definately needs to be rebuilt. Gearbox feels stiff and notchy.
Still,.. all that said it does run and seems free of oil leaks. etc.

Do you guys think I can find something better and cheaper that is complete and runs?

How much is a gearbox to have rebuilt if it is stuffed?

Is an AC system available for these?

Is a right front guard and bonnet easy to find?

I think this is the engine number,..
    FN 156 954 (a bit hard to read)(sound right?)
Can anyone tell me what year and size this is?

I assume if I were to register it (in QLD) I would have to get a blue Mod plate. (Because it originally had a diesel engine.)
Would this be problem? Is it expensive?

On the one hand it's a piece of crap.
On the other where can you buy all those parts for $500-? (assuming one day a better body comes up.)

Just doesn't seem to be very many around anymore.

    What do you guys think?

    Sorry for all the questions.

    Thinking,.. thinking,..

If you aren't planning on taking it on as a long term project and just want to get it registered and drive I would just buy one already registered. This seems cheap but by the time you get it on the road you could have got something much nicer.
