Contacted the people and they said they will come back to me, and this is what I get:

    "Hi.
I am sorry to disappoint you, we will not be able to accept your offer, decided to keep it and will be withdrawing the ad.
Good luck with your next search."

So much for putting it up for sale and then when someone wants to buy it they turn around.

I was gonna drive up sunday if I could get it and pick it up.

Hopefully I can get some better luck with the next one.

I would have thought $4400 is a bit steep for an original mk1 even if it is in great condition, maybe if it was a diesel.....

Keep looking mate, I'm sure something else will come up.

Hasn't this been for sale once before, and quite recently? Either the same owner can't make up their mind if they want to sell or not, or the new owner wanted out quickly, but then changed their mind just as quickly to keep it!

I wondered last time, and wondered again this time......why the black engine bay????

I could only go as high as $3500 but they said no, $3900 or nothing. But then when they said nah its not for sale anymore I asked why and they reckon aduring getting it cleaned for being ready when sold they found rust in the floor and need to fix that first and thats gonna take a week etc.

Coz the missus was excited when she saw that one. She has family in shellharbour and we would have made a weekend trip to go get it if we could but yeah...

Anyway, the right one will come along. I nearly had Lima's 1980 GTi but can't pay what another guy in Sydney has paid especially having to repair just about the whole floor and then needing a complete respray because the idiot who did it before stuffed up bad.
