    I don't know why anyone would want to do that... Plus I don't really like the convertible look in general...

    I think it was destroyed a long time ago (the ad says it's been in storage for 10 years), long before most of us were into VWs. It's not like a perfect example just appeared and had its roof removed with a can opener. Most Mk1s bit the dust years ago.

    swallow tails are the original golf and getting pretty rare now, this one seemed to be be fairly intact

    its funny i only ever looked properly now they've pretty much just chopped to suit lol its freaking sacrilegious theyv've even just chomped off the bottom bit off the boot!

    I'm pretty sure it's the same one.

    I contacted the person who listed it first and he said he was using his wife's account to list it (so the current listing might be from his own account, unless someone bought it first time simply to resell). He had relisted a purple 1976 Golf (which sold yesterday ) so I was asking him some questions about it. Considering his auction says "I'm selling my other Golfs", I'd be inclined to say he has/had a few in the yard. He's a forum member but not active.
