Auction ended at $4050, reserve not met.
If the 'reserve not met' sign goes away, and it's still a low enough price I might put a bid in.. But I can't see that sign going away..
I'm still trying to figure out how it killed 2 engines in a short period of time, and how the latest mechanics don't seem to be involved at all in any sort of repairs to get it going again, under warranty or not..

Perhaps the seller is as much of a goose behind the wheel as he is at trying to sell it?

By the sellers statement, "These go for low 20's" I'd say he is looking for 13-16k.

I heard a price similar to what it went for the first time, but I want to get more info, which doesn't seem to be forthcoming, and there seems to be a bit of mystery around how this 2nd engine died/how two died etc.
Also, the current engine is from an Audi TT, so not the original r32 one, which to me, would take the value down a decent whack on a limited numbers car, which the owner is possibly overlooking too.
Bottom line, if this seemed a lot clearer about EXACTLY what was wrong, and people could more safely gauge how much they needed to spend on it, he could expect to ask a bit more money for it. But it's currently a bit of a mystery, and people definitely don't want to throw down huge chunks of money if the rebuild costs blow out, and the 'other' reason 2 engines have died rears it's ugly head..
Also, if it was a blue one, I'd have made a much bigger effort to go check it out and see if we can give it a new life.. Who knows, curiosity might get the better of me and I go check it out next week after I'm back from Newy..

Certainly.
The VW R32 is extremely unknown to the greater car community. It is in my opinion half the reason they take so long to sell.
He/she is merely increases his/her chances of his/her vehicle being seen by potential buyers who haven't quite made up there mind on something they want.
The only reason I came across VR6/R32's is because I was searching for an AE86 and it was tagged in a VR6's for sale advertisement.
