Agreed. Put the start price at the MINIMUM of what you'd accept.

Not often you come across sellers who are professional time wasters, but I reckon he might be one.

Totally agree for large value items like vehicles it shold be mandatory to have a buy it now price! Otherwise this type of time wating situation by the seller happens all too often!

Yeah, look, I understand that its good to get the betting going, and 'build it up', but the issue here compared to other smaller/cheaper items is that the RESERVE here is just so damn high! It's so far away from what the bidding started at, it's not even close. So people are kept in suspense for quite a long time, with a LOT more money riding on it than other ebay items.

The other thing here is, if he is expecting so much money from the reserve, he obviously still sees so much value/worth in the car, which is good. But if he sees so much value, why isn't he fixing it up and selling it for $16-18k?

Also, he needs to (unfortunately) understand that in this case, everyone else only sees a big risk, a very big risk, and people are very weary of throwing shltloads of money down when it's not very clear at all of how much money it'll take thrown at it to get it even running again!

what is the reserve? We know its more than 9,000 as that was what the last auction that ended without a sale.

As you said its bloody risky, who knows if the gear box and AWD system are in good working order???!!!!

You can buy a good DRIVEABLE MK4 R32 for say 20k... He may as well fix it and then sell it.

Best off buying it for a project car if the price is right as it might take a fair while to suss out all the issues.

I asked for recent photos of the car and received a message back that it "looks the same" ... - even though in the advert he's said it doesn't have the headlight washer caps etc. Has anyone spoken to the workshop and asked for pics? ... MK4 R32's have held their value, but not to the extent that I'd be overspending on a car that has already gone through two motors and is in an undetermined condition.

It's about to end it's 2nd eBay auction in less than 45mins, and it's only up to ~$3950, but 'reserve not met' still, so looks like it won't sell again..
