There's the ugly Martini Olive five door and that white three door, both have been up for a while. White 3-door has dropped from about $3500 i think.
Saw a nice-ish 3-door swallowtail manual with chromies in QLD for $1900 i think.
There was also a really nice green 5-door s'tail for $5500. Cant remember what state though...

I'm still debating weather or not to fly up and inspect that white one personally. Finances and space (and parents) are against me at the moment though.
That martini olive one has been up forever and a year..
That white one is just asking to be used for a project! I wish I had time and $$$ right now - damn summer semester exams!
I'm in Brisbane so if it's still up there in mid-late February, I'll drive down to Coomera to inspect it. And since it's a swallowtail, it's even more special.
Exterior rust seems like an indicator of more problems underneath.
if anyone wants me to check out the white swallowtail i would be more than happy to. i have owned 7 mk1s in the past so i dont mind. I also have a swallowtail that im thinking of selling but its not in the best condition.
There is a fair amount of rust in my own 76 so I am wondering if it's worth continuing with, as my bodywork skills are minimal. The 1976 LS 'swallowtail' golfs in Australia were built here (Melbourne) from some left over bits from the German built ‘75s but were not built to the same sort of standards. They used thinner metals, less welds and less rust proofing than the German ones. Although they are lighter, the chassis seems to flex more and are more prone to Rusting.
The white one looks half decent but be prepared for some fun times ahead. I think the $1500 77 German GLS on ebay looks like a better buy to be honest, regardless of the white interior which would be pretty easy to change out/retrim.
Yeah I've been eyeing that 77 GLS on eBay for a while now. It's tempting because it's right here in Brisbane so I save on freight costs. I was looking at buying a Golf with a good body but busted engine and interior so I could really rebuild the car, but maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, considering I've never done any of this before (been doing car audio for years, and recently rebuilt a scooter, but that's it).
I hope it's there in a couple of months time because I can't buy it right now!
