    Another one bites the dust

I'd do very bad things for that interior...such pretty sports seats with airbags and Cloth!! (not a fan of leather). Plus all black interior. What would those seats be worth?

Dude, buy the interior from Schalke04's GTI part out.. Those seats are in great condition.. I have some photos somewhere.. They'd look a million bucks if he gave them a thorough clean before I took the shots. It also has the black/grey GTI seats, which look way cleaner and not faded than the black/red ones IMHO

I've seen those seats and yeah he should've cleaned the darn things. Looking very average.
Really liking the red pattern though :/
The black and grey ones look kinda bland. And seem a little expensive at $500.

Do schalke's seats have airbags in them? I guessing that none of the Golfs got seat warmers like the boras?

    Points on the seats:

    • GTI / Bora seats: I thought I always wanted the GTI cloth seats.. until I saw the leather Bora seats that I ended up getting.. (yes I can set up the heated bits later, but was never a selling/buying point for me), (and also when I saw the red gti ones in real life, fronts are always faded, worn and gross/feral,) more below. I am not sure if the all the GTI seats are heated, but am thinking that the later Grey ones also have airbags like the earlier red ones... anyone?

    • Colour choice: I see what you mean about the grey looking blander, but cleaned up right, I think they actually look a lot more slick/neat/stylish/modern/audi looking, rather than the red ones look retro, which maybe works much better with the older squarer shapes, like MK3 and earlier for sure!

    • Earlier/Later, Red/Grey models: Another point on these seats is, these (red ones) are all the earlier ones (up to about '02 ?), and are actually branded with 'Recaro' embroidered on the seat, and the top of the seat is scalloped out where the headrest docks in. The later model sets, do not actually seem to say Recaro on them, and as far as I know, there is debate on wether they are Recaros or a new GTI sport seat designed by VW based on the Recaro seat, but without the headrest notch..

    • Condition: The main issue I have with the red seats is that they are almost always really worn, faded, and gross looking in the drivers seat, and sometimes passenger too (like this set), and as soon as anyone looks in the window of the car it makes the whole interior look dirty and gross (even though you've paid good money for them and cleaned them!). You can clearly see the difference in the front and back seats on this car, where the rear seats look reasonably vibrant red still, where the front/drivers seat looks pretty faded and manky in comparrison.. That's not just a bad shot or bad lighting, it's a bad seats..

    Front:

    Back:

The only affordable thing I could think of doing when I was looking into them, was somehow dyeing them.. seems a bit silly I know. Maybe great if you have some upholstery skills/contacts you could replace the faded parts?

With all that said, it doesn't mean there are no sets out there that have the front seats still in great condition (nice, actually RED, stitching not frayed, etc), and if they're out there snap them up for sure! But sets like these (and all the others I've seen so far) I feel will disappoint you in real life, and I think you deserve to get something better for your hard earned cashola!!

But, of course, each to their own, and my opinion is just that, but it is mainly based on the condition all I've seen are in, not your taste in seats, because I'm sure if I saw an immaculate set, I'd want them too!
