i feel your pain ray... i must have spent like 50 hours doing various calculations and comparing offsets etc to work out what i need to do to get 8s or 9s on a widetrack mk2. fml

by that same token though, the brakes are fantastic.

Should look into those new 4x100/5x100 hubs and discs from the US

are 2 pc wheels like this really bolt-the-centres-on easy? or do you have to get them welded up?

are they strong, or more for show?

    RS's are 3 piece.

pretty sure they're originated from race wheels

im still trying to understand how they work..... i know they came from race wheels, but with people building their own rs's etc... seems a little scary to put the weight of a car on those tiny little bolts that bolt the centers on, what with the way people are tuning their engines/ suspension for sustained aggressive driving

This is a BBS E50 from the early 70's with a flat barrel which has to be taken apart to mount and dismount the tire. Having all those little high tensile bolts torqued up hard that closely together surely counts for a lot of strength

Couldn't find a good pic but this is an SSR Formula Mesh lip.

And this is the mounting side of the center.

Three piece wheels are extremely strong. The barrels are spun, which gives them excellent grain flow and density, while the centres are usually forged and machined. Same deal. Makes for a very light, but very strong wheel.

Don't look at a single bolt on it's own. Look at all of them as a whole and the leverage they have on them- You'll drag the tyre off the bead before you break the bolts. FYI, one single 6mm High Tensile 12.9 black bolt has enough tensile strength to suspend a family car..
