Keen to find a build thread and some more specific detail on it,

Looks like a very well planned and executed build, and great value too
Can't find his build thread but I'm sure the guy who built it was a forum member, user name was DUB 20V, look him up under community and you can see his threads, the link below shows the car when it was featured in a magazine. I recall he spent a motza on the car.

    For all the haters

    Cheers

For that kind of money i'd much rather build a turbo R32, but i still think this is an awesome car and well done to the original owner

Regardless of what you guys would rather do, he built a GTI and I reckon its awesome.

I used to see it in Narrabeen all the time.

its kind of like putting m3 badges and hood and other bits and pieces on not an m3. The effort undeniably awesome. but each to their own i guess

In my opinion it's nothing like that at all. If it had r32 badges then yes. Although I see it no different to putting a Vento or bora front on a golf. Just styling preference also in building cars I find its easier to buy something cheaper (like a GTI would be) and spend money on it as you go and that's half of the fun!
I know if I had to buy my car as is including all the money I spent on it I wouldn't be able to.

This car is awesome! I'd rate it up there with any other mk4 I've seen in aus.

The gumtree ad says he is running a Pelequin Limited Slip Differential but there is no mention of rods.
Maybe that's why its only running 220kw. They may be running a rod safe tune. With the mods listed and the money apparently spent you would expect a bit more.

That is one of the issues of buying a car that someone else has built.
