Did anyone think to google the words "cut and shut "
Its in the Oxford dictionary !
Here's me thinking it was just Australian slang.
I am a bit of a sad sack.
Relax everyone,
The missing piece of the puzzle is that Stanton has actually seen the car in the flesh.
I for one thought he was doing the same photographic forensics that we all were on the photos alone and coming to a conclusion that none of us could quite get to.
Apologies for any offense taken.
Cut and shuts although illegal, immoral and usually dangerous are technically interesting though we'd love to hear more detail on the technique.
I knew one chap in the early 90's who'd do this sort of thing, easiest way on a hatch was usually through the A pillars and across the floor. There was good money to be made cutting and shutting 323s and Lasers etc back then.

What makes you think people don’t know what a cut and shut is? That’s not the issue. The issue is you’re claiming this car is a cut and shut when there is no way you could conclusively tell that just from these photos. So presumably you have inside information about this cars history. That’s great. The problem is when anyone asks you why you are so sure, you appear to get offended that people don’t just take your words as fact. No-one is challenging you, they just want more info. You could for example just say “The reason I say it is a cut and shut is because I know the history of the car”.
Oh look a voice of reason
I don't have to give a reason or any extra information, why don't you lot get together and buy it.That would make me smile.
What is obscure about my original post.
Looks straight forward to me.
Its all the pedantic questions that followed.
Try reading it again.
And then you were asked (on a couple of occasions) why you thought it was a chop and not a crash repair, at no time did you say you had seen it , in fact most didn't even know you were from Tassie (another poster did that)
That's fine, it is everyone else being difficult
Don't get me wrong, your information is good for anyone who wants to go buy it so they can do it with their eyes open, but it would be pretty easy just to have said you had seen the car in the first place.
Now enough with the bullsh#t guys let's try to move forward. Do we know where the cut has been made?
And I also have a uneasy feeling about this car? Due to it looks like it has some bits from George's old mk1 (orange one) in which I last heard it was purchased last from a bloke in tas who owed a few people some money due to not delivering parts?
But then again this could be wrong? It's only what I can put together across the other side of the sea in Melbourne.
Please this info is not hard evidence only what I have put together.
