Interested as to why you thought it's a cut and shut.
No doubt it's had a front end, but that could have been just a crash repair. (how well it was done, always an issue)
Pretty common to replace a nose or tail skin.
Cut and shut usually implies 2 separate cars cut through the door holes and joined together.

Passenger floor pan is basically gone, but it isn't that bad a deal, probably $800 in repairs to make right
If it was VIC/NSW/SA/SE Qld I would probably own it, but Tas transport is harder
How much to redo the join where the 76 back half meets the 77 front half then.
I'm not convinced it's a cut and shut. What makes you so certain?
Not trying to be rude but I'm just not seeing it from the photos.
My '76 Golf has a swallow tail front and a later rear but it's not a cut and shut, it's just had the beaver panel replaced due to a rear end accident.
I've got '90s cabrio front clip repair panel that I'm going to put into a '79 but that won't make it a cut and shut either.
Also the early Golfs were often a jumble of parts anyway.

I give up ! I started by trying to warn off potential buyers from getting caught out but seems no one wants to be saved !
What a bunch of sad sacks.
all they are asking for, is your reasoning and some proof of your claims, i don't think that warrants calling them 'sad sacks'
Vento - low on hot tunings
Funny that the car is for sale in Tasmania and the "prove it "comments are from non Tasmanians.
I don't have to prove anything.
I suggest a super moderator remove this thread.
