    Lightbulb 2003 UK import Volkswagen MK4 R32

Looks like this advertisement for a UK import MK4 R32 was put up recently. What are your thoughts on it being an import?

The missing rear badge and incorrect location of the front grille badge rings some alarming bells.

Nothing wrong with an import Rob, its never going to hold the value a locally R32 will command. At 16k with that amount of kms its a cheapway to get into an R32.

As for the badges who would know, its a 11 year old car maybe the owner has a legitmate reason... maybe not... only one way to find out!

I am planning on selling my Pirelli eventually and buying a 10k-13k daily driver and love it to be a vw... 2 door with a child seat might drive me insane tho!

in regards to the KM and price looks like a bargain!
missing rear badge wouldnt be a concern as most people do that, front badge on the other hand could be worth checking out.

Looks like a pretty good buy. Other than location of front grille badge. Could have been in an accident and been put in the wrong place. I'd call the owner and get the history of the car though If I was looking at it

From what I can see in the photos posted it also need a new dash cluster in km/h. Like kov said, being an import of its age I don't think is a big deal either, as long as everything matches up. Wouldn't you think the owner would care about the front grille badge position? There must be a catch to this car guys. I'm pretty sure to be honest.

Typically all the UK cars I've seen before are badly corroded underneath from the salted roads - would need to be closely checked over. Hope it's as good as he describes and someone here buys it

This is a 2003 R32 UK Import, very well looked after, don't drive it much and I'm sad to sell. updating to a family ute! Normal wear and tear. If you drive it you would want to buy it. No time wasters please ! Phoning is preferred if possible. 70411 miles. Urgent sale. Thx for watching. Got aus proof lo3 plate. Had car for about 18month. One quick vw. Lol. Note number plate is not included. 6month rego

Anything coming in from a country that experiences snow where they "grit" the roads (it is salt laden sand where the salt melts the ice) should be thoroughly checked for corrosion.

The underbody, sub-frames, wheel arches and any body seams should be thoroughly checked for the hint of rust. Over the winters, the "grit" can be trapped for months until it is warm enough to wash the grit away.

Just make sure you get a UK history check done as well as an Australian one.

The speedo would have both kmh and mph on it. So I don't see a need to change that? The rustproofing on this generation isn't that bad the car would be full of holes.

I had lots of ten year old VWs in the UK, even the MK1s weren't rot boxes at that age. There was surface rust on the steel components but nothing that would a roadworthy concern.

My 2006 Polo is far tattier underneath than all the other Polo's I have worked on and that has spent it's whole life in QLD.

Just be aware that its done 70,000 miles, not 70,000 km - in case that was overlooked.

I just spotted this on carsales earlier today.. any other issues with it being an import? how many did they make over there? I'd love a 5 door one. I wonder if he'd take much less than 16k?
