    Anyone here made it down to the Snowy Mountains 1000? Saw a bevy of VW's but most notably, a CSG Mk6 GTI 'YFT-***" coming back along the Monaro around 230pm......

    This R was running only a dump pipe on the day;

    I didn't get a chance to talk to that guy, but props for taking the time to get under the car and take off the whole exhaust from dump pipes back just for the event. I've seen a whole lot of weight removal techniques at the track but I've never seen someone pull a 2+ mt long exhaust system off their car, especially without a hoist. Have to feel sorry for him having to reassemble it at the end of the day.

    Must have worked for him though - 23.32 sec which was 18th overall in a field of very quick vehicles.

    The Polo pulled around 197kph on the GPS on the last run (still waiting for the official times) with a 27.68 sec run, so pretty happy with how that went.

    That was me in the CSG

    I'm still reeling at the 600hp Cherokee! What a launch! :O

    That's a very respectable time. From what he said, the R was best Euro of the day, inc the two Lambo's.

    Crazy sod left Sydney at 12am and was driving back after the event. He had one more run around 430pm, as I left to head home.

    You might be able to see the exhaust in this pic.......

    Bugger!! I didn't see the SRT in action. I wasn't in my CSG today, rather the family wagon needed a run;

    Indeed - great to see a VW take the Fastest Euro trophy. I could only manage a 24.8 in the Gallardo today - just couldn't seem to get a good launch for some reason. The Diablo suffered from a similar problem - too much power through the rear wheels to get traction on a very gravelly surface.

    No excuses though - just proves that a tuned Golf R is a serious weapon.

    Thanks!

    Didn't end up taking too many photos myself but did get one of the Polo and Gallardo together:

    And one of the 3 euros all beaten by that Golf R:
