Wheels changed over to the semi-slicks and flush the brakes.

I brought the vacuum pump back with me from the US, they're only US$30 over there. Soooo much easir to bleed the brakes this way.

Interior stripped out, laptimer fitted, harness and seat in, all packed up for tomorrow.

    Hope the weather is fine!

Results are in - I wasn't the slowest car on the track this time

They've changed the race format, instead of being 3 flying laps, you're out there for 12 minutes which ends up being about 6 laps. Below are the timed laps for each of the three sessions I went out on the track.

171 Peter Jones VW Mk1 Golf VWCV

    1:46.8 1:46.5 1:49.0 1:48.3 1:46.3 1:45.96

    1:48.12 1:46.65 1:46.09 1:45.39 1:48.34 1:46.06

    1:48.01 1:47.92 1:48.21 1:45.53 1:46.06 1:51.12

    Best Lap 1:45.39

I wasn't driving particularly well, I didn't realise it at the time but I was coming down with the flu.

My technique needs a lot of work yet but I'm begining to realise what I'm doing wrong. I'll go out to Phillip Island for the next familiarisation event and get some more time with the instructors.

The car behaved perfectly. Water temp was spot on 80° and oil temp never got above about 95°. The tune didn't alter at all during the day. It could have happily run all day long out there.

I did miss a gear change or two, with the solid mounts the gates can be hard to find if the chassis is a bit tweaked up going into a corner.

    Top speed was 95mph (152kph)

    Photos in a minute.

Well done Pete. Reasonably consistent for the time you've spent in the seat.

Funny thing is I'm consistant at 1.46 regardless of whether I drive super aggressive or super smooth. The slower times were when I was giving way to traffic. I've got a feeling a 2.0 should be faster than this. Need to get the new car up and running with a 16v in it methinks.
