Finally an update Pete! I was beginng to think you'd gotten lost in your shed!
hopefully I'll make it on the 10th. Always fun seeing you hit the tarmac!
Must catch up before you nick off to the US though.
OK, it's been a while so here goes.
A slight change of plan.
I'm going to keep the Spec clutch on the shelf for the moment and save it up for the next motor.
Reason being that the old clutch died from oil not horsepower as I had (optomistically) assumed.
The clutch pushrod in the box was pitted from corrosion which took out the seal and leaked gearbox oil into the clutch area. I should have inspected the pushrod better.
So while the clutch was out I had the flywheel surfaced and lightened.
I got a new seal and pushrod from VW and rediscoved why I prefer to shop online. $33 for a seal that GAP sells for US$2.30
Here's some pictures!
Oily Disc on the left and a new one on the right.
Lightened and surfaced flywheel
Here's the pushrod.
Thanks goes out to Bruce for advice and assistance.
It's all back together again now, the light flywheel makes first gear pretty short, it's a bit quicker than before.
Next track outing will be the 10th of May at Sandown, I will have just returned from the US so timing's going to be tight but the car's basically ready.

Yeah, Work's been hectic and I've had to get a lot of things done before I head off overseas. I would have hit the track again last month but I didn't get the clutch sorted in time.
Need to get more organised.
