Nice Pete.
68kwatw, so 90-100 kw at flywheel? so 125 ish HP?
Glad to hear it's gotten all sorted.
That curve shows a massive mid range, this engine might be better suited to hill climbs now even?
Was the car strapped down properly?
Did you have the correct tyre pressure??
Was your Intake temp sensor tampered with???
I call BS on the base that I think that your turbo has too much flow for its size
Nice work Pete great to hear your car is getting sorted, still laugh when I see the pics of the air horns![]()

Honestly - don't know or really care for that matterthe goal of the exercise was to get it running right. I'm confident now that it's running as well as it possibly can.
I'll have to check back with them on the torque figures, I'm pretty sure this thing's got a lot more torque than a 1.8. The clutch is a brand new Sachs HD 210mm disc and a brand new 16v pressure plate and the car will spin the clutch easily from low rpm in third with the clutch already fully engaged.
Remember this is a stock $50 2.0L bottom end with a stock 1800 K-Jet head. Cam and carbs can only do so much
The real measure will be (hopefully) improved lap times out on the track.

hey mate - great to hear you've got it back and going strong! i suspect that with the 2l's long stroke it must pull strongly at low revs - to have max power at just over 5000 is great - means you dont spend all your time waiting for power to come on and makes your gear changes less important - always a good thing for the practical driver.
must sound the biz too - good job!

New clutch is on the way.
Next event is Phillip Island Famiarisation / Sprints on the 14/15 of Feb so I've got to get the clutch installed before then.
I think I'll just do the Familiarisation on the Saturday, still need more track hours before I commit to a season of Sprints.
Went for the over kill option on the clutch. Went for the soft option on the spring/pad options though, it still gets used on the street after all so I went for the 6pad & sprung centre disc. New hardware on the way from GAP to bolt it all up. This'll test those urethane gearbox mounts out!

I just read this thread from start to finish, what a morale booster! I was planning on building another MK1 with 1.9 turbo motor but from the sounds of things your hybrid on carbs would be more fun and sound sweeter.
Thanks for posting and all the photos.
