    Counter boring it is!

Here's the other end of that bolt, I used a counter sinking bit to chamfer the cable exit point to reduce wear.

I didn't want to modify the pedal too much so I clamped m8 mudguard washers either side of the circular part of the top of the pedal. This should keep the cable bearing on a smooth radius.

Tha cable's clamped against the shaft of the pedal with a thick m6 washer, bolt and nylock .

Pretty happy with the way it turned out, I might make up a spare to keep handy trackside but I think this will last for quite a while.

You could use a dissy from a carby Mk2 or Cabriolet or Scirocco for one with hall effect sensor and mechanical advance

Have missed this thread for a while, just re-read it all. Nice work. Carbys will probably go better than the kjet, but use more juice.

I didn`t have to modify the rail on the Mk1 Caddy or the Rocco for the bigger belt setup, maybe its a year model thing.

    Have fun on the track

    Here's what they sound like.

There's no video , just some fuzzy pics to keep the bandwidth down and because it was too dark.

    (Hope this works)

The clip is 2 minutes form cold start. Didn't fire first go because I didn't pump the throttle at all. Second time it fires there's a delay as I move from reaching through the window to turn the key to getting to the throttle linkage in the engine bay all while juggling the camera in one hand.

Didn't give it much of a rev for this either, the engine's cold remember.

Sounds almost as good as a 16v....

Very nice. Gotta love the gasping induction note when the engine is cold and you rap the throttle.. It sounds like the engine is gasping for air. (When in reality, it's the opposite, haha).

Got it all together today and took it out for a run about.

Bucket loads of torque, really repsonsive throttle. It will break traction mid corner if you're carrying enough revs. Quite amusing really to steer it with the throttle mid corner, it's been a while since I could do that.

The light flywheel means you need a few extra revs on board to get it moving without stalling.

It's still untuned, I'm going to balance the carbs tomorrow and see how much static advance I can dial in, no sign of any pinging today.

Being the longer stroke, it's not as willing to rev as the 1800s but I don't think it needs to. The power is all there to be had below 6000rpm.

I might do a bit of experimentation tommorrow with cam timing and shift points.

It does run hotter than the GX, the only thing I can put it down to is the higher compression. The cooling system seems to handle it though.

I'm not thrilled about the oil pressure, seems to be lower than I'd expect. The oil I put in is a synthetic Fuchs 10w-40, I think I'll go for something heavier. Might have to investigate a new oil pump too.

At this stage I'm going to give it the green light to hit the track on Cup Day for the Group 5 sprints. Any volunteers for pit crew?

And yes - it's loud. Nothing stopping me from picking a bigger cam now although this setup seems pretty tractable as it is, a bigger cam might push the power too far up the rpm range for the 2.0
