You have had a busy weekend, good work.
Thanks Matt, That's one day's work, I got a free seat at the GP yesterday

Now I know What I'm looking for in injectors I might grab some off US ebay.

I was surprised how easy they are to take in and out.

I've been tempted! It was close there for a while with that crank pulley.

I had to use the sort of torque usually reserved for beetle axle nuts.

I'm going to re-visit that water pump one day when I've collected enough bits to run a serpentine belt. I already have a new Mk 3 pump, tensioner and alternator, all I need is the pulleys and the time to hunt down what the right sized belt is going to be. I think Valver has done something similar.

There's been a bearing noise, I thought it might have been the pump but it checked out OK so I' re-used the original pump after cleaning out the housing and replacing the gasket.

The noise turned out to be the alternator bearings so I'll have to drop that off at the auto sparky for some TLC.

So you're saying you got the longest bit of pipe you had on the breaker bar and jumped on the end of it?

Know the feeling, it took both my old man and me to get one off an early combi at the workshop once..

You'd be correct. I asked him about it in his project thread and he put all the details on there. I'm going to be doing the same thing.

See page 1 of this thread.

    New TRW pads all round.

I haven't fitted the rear discs yet 'cos I backed the car into the garage and I can't get it out till I've got the front back together. I'm also waiting on rear suspension bushes so I can drop the beam right out while all the brake lines and cables are disconnected. Might just have to paint it red!

The TRW pads were recommended to me by my brake shop as being comparable to the EBC Greenstuff pads which are not available for my front callipers. They're soft which means they should bite well but can be dusty, which doesn't bother me. They're also good for 650 degrees and a good compromise for road and track I was told.

I'm with holding judgement 'till I've driven on them.

The pads I was using were new ols stock when I got them and contained ASBESTOS. Great!

    Almost.

We once "borrowed" the stop sign from the end of the street to use on a 3/4 breaker bar to get a beetle axle nut off. The brakes wouldn't hold that Kind of leverage of course, we had another bar bolted up with the wheel bolts.

Was sort of fun, you could pick the car right off the ground and the nut still wouldn't let go. We ended up drilling and splitting the nut.

(We put the stop sign back when we were done)

Haha! Yeah, it's amazing how tight some things can get. The old man has taken a cold chisel to them before and split them off..
